The Wonder Stuff
JB's Dudley
Very Special Glastonbury warm-up gigThe eight-legged beast that first crept around Britain's seedy venues some twenty years ago and finally surfaced as The Wonder Stuff are coming back Home To JB's
In an era of celebrity obsession and surreality TV excess, The Wonder Stuff have stripped back the groove machine to basics and come up with records that bear all the hallmarks of the musical genius that made them one of the biggest bands of the Nineties. Leading the battle charge are founder members Miles Hunt (vocal/guitar) and Malcolm Treece (guitar/vocals), ably assisted in the trenches by former RDF bass man, Mark McCarthy, New York rockers' Love In Reverse drummer Andres Karu and new recruit Erica Nockalls on fiddle ("her audition lasted two minutes").

The Damned
JB's DudleyThe curtain fell quickly soon after the band took to the small stage at The Nashville club that night back in 1976, following an offensive burst of something that could hardly be described as popular music - intensely loud guitars, screeching vocals, thundering drums - all played at breathtaking speeds. The audience, there that night to see the band Salt, clucked their approval at the group's dismissal. Who was this upstart band? Who did they think they were, trying to upset a music scene that nightly recognised Elton John and Eric Clapton as being the top of the pops? Good riddance. And then, from behind the curtain, came the band's bass drum ... launched into the deserving crowd of decaying hippies, overturning their tables and smashing their greasy pints of beer. An uproar ensued. And the legend of The Damned was born.

Phil Kelsall
Dudley Concert Hall
Blackpool Tower’s Ballroom is home to what must be the most famous and most played Wurlitzer in the world and Phil Kelsall has amazingly now completed 32 years at the Tower, having been appointed in 1975, initially as organist in the Tower Circus band with occasional appearances in the Ballroom. In 1977 Ernest Broadbent the then Tower organist, retired through ill-health and Phil was the obvious choice as the new principal resident organist, a position he has held ever since.
The link between the Tower Ballroom and the BBC has always been a strong one, more recently through the hit series Strictly Come Dancing . The legendary Reginald Dixon broadcasts will be particularly remembered by many and Phil Kelsall was to continue this link when in 1980 he was asked by the BBC to record for the Sam on Sunday shows, following Reginald Dixon’s retirement part way through that series. Phil has also acted as a guest presenter for Radio 2’s The Organist Entertains. Numerous credits have also included Radio 4’s long running The Archers and Radio 2’s flagship music programme, Friday Night is Music Night.

Jimmy Carr- Rapier Wit
Dudley Concert HallA heady mix of artistic integrity, loyalty and avarice has put Jimmy back on the road.
If you only see one comedy show this year. what's the matter with you? Get out more.
A 'rapier' is the long sword of a gentleman.
'Rapier wit' is defined as clever, quick, intelligent humour.
Please note, Jimmy Carr doesn't have 'the long sword of a gentleman' and even if you like him, 'clever, quick and intelligent' is a bit of a stretch.

Niki Evans
Dudley Concert HallNiki's exciting career in the music industry has spanned more than 20 years and she is currently delighted to be making her musical theatre debut as leading lady Mrs Johnstone in Blood Brothers.
Niki started singing at the age of twelve and first signed to management which included members of Black Sabbath and the band Jigsaw.
Within three years, she was signed to Libedo Records; an offshoot of Record Label PWL.
In 1990 Niki toured as solo singer with pop stars, Sonia, Lonnie Gordon, Big Fun and Yell.
In 1992 Niki married and had two children and in 1999 Niki made her first TV appearance on BBC’s “Star for a Night”, hosted by Jayne McDonald, where she made the finals. Following this Niki was approached by many songwriters and recorded songs for TV advertising campaigns.
Following a break from the industry, she auditioned for XFactor in 2007 and made it to the shows’ semi-final capturing the hearts of the nation and a legion of fans along the way. It was quoted by Simon Cowell that Niki’s version of the winners song was “by far the best”.
As one of the most successful artists to emerge from XFactor, Niki has since performed with John Barrowman at the Symphony Hall, has sang alongside Kim Wylde and Heather Small at a concert in Dubai, and appeared as a special request of Jasper Carrott on his Christmas Rock With Laughter show at the NEC and has made countless appearances on TV, including LK Today and ITV’s This Morning with Phillip Schofield and Fearne Briton, as well as numerous interviews on radio and in press.
